Ushindi Ministry seeks in every way to lift the church in Niangara out of the cycles of poverty that have made the community of Believers weak and caught in the poverty ruse. They don’t have secure source of food, every member of the family seek to provide for daily needs. Pastors are straggling to be engaged the effective Ministry and also many children are straggling to go to school. This leads to illiteracy, which continues the cycle from one generation to another.
Farming & mission is an effective way of bringing community members together to learn different farming techniques and to provide a framework for Bible study and prayer. Through this approach, relationship between community members is strengthened, and the foundations of faith are reinforced.
Ushindi Ministry began this program in October 2023 with the Niangara church members, after a seminar led by two Missionaries (Joy and Jonas trained by Tearfund), during four days, Church members learnt on “the wheel of light, the four broken relationships, the nine aspects of well-being and relational”. After the training, pastors, mothers and young took decision after realizing that Niangara has all the potential to get developed. Therefore, they chose to start with vegetable garden production to make profit for fighting poverty, gathering unity and love, receiving agriculture training and studying Bible.
The groups began their activities, setting up experimental and individual gardens. They set up gardens to grow cabbage, peppers, chestnuts, carrots, onions and watermelon. Eggplant, bitter eggplant, amaranth, leek.
The groups encountered difficulties due to the abundance of rain on Niangara and a large flood destroyed at least 15,000 seedlings from the nursery, and the dry season in the North DRC consumed a few individual fields. This great loss brought discouragement to the church. In spite of this, you can see the smiles on the faces of the church members.
The work goes on and progresses wonderfully, with God in control.
Kindly join USHINDI MINISTRY to thanks God, and recognizes the commitment of the local church during this first experience of making kitchen gardens, learning the Word of God and praying together.
